The Ross Fountain by the Sunken Garden is one of several gorgeous displays contributed by a Butchart family member

By bringing topsoil from neighboring farms, the family’s abandoned quarry blossomed into the spectacular Gardens they are today. A Japanese Garden that meets the sea was created, as well as a Mediterranean Garden where tennis courts used to be. Generations of Butcharts’ contributed to the exquisite splendor of these Gardens. Nowadays fireworks, concerts and a children’s pavilion with a whimsical merry-go-round are part of the extensive grounds.
